Analytics Engineer, HR Analytics

Elastic, the Search AI Company, enables everyone to find the answers they need in real time, using all their data, at scale — unleashing the potential of businesses and people. The Elastic Search AI Platform, used by more than 50% of the Fortune 500, brings together the precision of search and the intelligence of AI to enable everyone to accelerate the results that matter. By taking advantage of all structured and unstructured data — securing and protecting private information more effectively — Elastic’s complete, cloud-based solutions for search, security, and observability help organizations deliver on the promise of AI.

What is The Role

This is a hands-on build role that will develop and maintain HR's data pipelines on our GCP/BigQuery/dbt data model, with an AI-powered analytics layer on top. Core platform infrastructure is provisioned centrally; you'll help configure HR-specific pipelines and dbt modeling work on top of it, in partnership with our data scientist, and stand up recruiting reporting and insights as the first production use case on the new stack. This role reports directly to the Director of HR Analytics, with high visibility into architecture and stakeholder-facing decisions from day one.

Your mission is to move the organization away from manual reporting and toward a mature, self-service environment where senior stakeholders get decision-ready answers, not just data.

What You Will Be DoingBuild and Deploy Scalable Analytics
  • Build and maintain data pipelines in BigQuery/dbt, on infrastructure provisioned by the central data platform team, that link HR data across the employee lifecycle (Workday, Greenhouse, Qualtrics, ServiceNow), so we can trace how hiring decisions affect long-term engagement and retention.
  • Support and enhance the AI-powered analytics user experience.
  • Develop scalable, self-service dashboards that reduce time spent on reactive, one-off data requests.
  • Implement data governance practices (access controls, validation, documentation) in line with team standards for sensitive HR and compensation data.
  • Build data proficiency across the broader HR team as part of the shift to self-service.

Recruiting Reporting and Insight Engine
  • Automate recurring recruiting reports to eliminate manual data wrangling.
  • Translate talent data into insights that identify pipeline bottlenecks, improve candidate experience, and improve hiring efficiency.
  • Monitor recruiting data for anomalies and build validation checks to establish one version of the truth across systems.

Technical Requirements
  • 2+ years of hands-on experience building and maintaining data pipelines in Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
  • Strong SQL and Python skills.
  • Direct experience extracting and modeling data from at least one major HRIS or ATS platform (e.g., Workday, Greenhouse) via its reporting or API layer. General dashboard-level reporting experience is not a substitute.
  • Demonstrated ability to build custom dashboards and data visualizations using standard BI platforms (e.g., Looker, Tableau) or code-based environments (e.g., Python, Streamlit, Plotly).
What You Bring
  • Broad understanding of HR programs and metrics across the employee lifecycle, including recruiting.
  • Strong storytelling and presentation skills for both VP/executive and non-technical audiences.
  • Experience working across geographies and time zones, tailoring insights to diverse audiences.
  • A point of view on AI/LLM-based analytics tools and how they simplify insight delivery – direct experience implementing one is a plus.
  • A builder's approach: comfortable creating solutions, frameworks, and processes with limited existing scaffolding, while working within a set architectural direction.

9. HOW DO YOU PREPARE FOR A MEETING AND PREPARE A MEETING? WHAT DO YOU SEE HAPPENING DURING THE MEETING?

Just as communication is essential when working remotely, so is organization. Because you won't have those opportunities in the elevator or a casual conversation in the lunchroom, you should take advantage of the little time you have in a video or phone conference...

10. HOW DO YOU USE TECHNOLOGY ON A DAILY BASIS, IN YOUR WORK AND FOR YOUR PLEASURE?
