Broker - North American & International Property

The opportunity
IDEX are partnering with an independent, specialty Lloyd's Broker, supporting the growth of a newly launched property division. This is a chance to get in at the ground floor and help shape a new property book from day one.
The division is led by a well-known property leader with a strong record in large and complex risks. As such, this role will be instrumental in facilitating the placement and servicing of unique and varied risks emanating from the US.
The business is investing for the long term and this is an opportunity to grow and mature as the division does. Meaning that for the right individual, there is real scope for this role to evolve and be tailored into something that plays to your strengths.

What you'll be doing

  • Placing large and complex North American property risks in the London and Lloyd's market
  • Placing international property business (excluding Europe) as the division grows
  • Owning the placement process from submission to binding: market approach, negotiation, structuring and documentation, with the support and guidance of the Head of, where necessary
  • Working closely with the Head of Property to turn new US Broker relationships into bound business
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with Underwriters across Lloyd's and the London company market
  • Shaping your own role, the remit is flexible, with scope to move into production as the team grows

What they're looking for

  • Proven experience placing complex property risks in the London market, ideally North American business
  • Strong Underwriter relationships and market connectivity
  • Confidence to work on your own and lead placements
  • No ego, a team player who is eager to learn and enjoys building something new
  • Ambition and appetite for growth

Why join?

  • Be the first hire into a new division, with a real say in how the team and role develop
  • Work directly alongside a respected senior property leader
  • An independent, owner-led business with quick decisions and no layers of bureaucracy
  • A close-knit, sociable culture where people genuinely enjoy working together
  • A modern, cloud-based broking platform and AI tools that cut admin, so you can focus on broking
  • A supportive, long-term environment

2. HOW DO YOU USE THE DIFFERENT COMMUNICATION TOOLS IN DIFFERENT SITUATIONS?

When you're working on a remote team, there's no way to chat in the hallway between meetings or catch up on the latest project during an office carpool. Therefore, virtual communication will be absolutely essential to get your work done...

Just like your schedule, how you track files and other information is very important. After all, everything is digital!...

8. HOW TO PRIORITIZE WORK?

9. HOW DO YOU PREPARE FOR A MEETING AND PREPARE A MEETING? WHAT DO YOU SEE HAPPENING DURING THE MEETING?

Just as communication is essential when working remotely, so is organization. Because you won't have those opportunities in the elevator or a casual conversation in the lunchroom, you should take advantage of the little time you have in a video or phone conference...

10. HOW DO YOU USE TECHNOLOGY ON A DAILY BASIS, IN YOUR WORK AND FOR YOUR PLEASURE?

This is a great question because it shows your comfort level with technology, which is very important for a remote worker because you will be working with technology over time...
