Current Programming Intern, Sony Pictures Television – Spring 2027

Sony Pictures Television is hiring a Current Programming Intern for its Culver City, Los Angeles offices for the Spring 2027 season. This role sits inside the Current Programming department, the team responsible for shepherding episodic television productions from script stage through delivery, working directly with executives who manage the studio's active slate of scripted series. It suits an early-career professional who wants real exposure to how a major studio oversees episodic television from the inside, not just the periphery.

About the Role

The Current Programming department at Sony Pictures Television manages day-to-day operations across all television shows produced by the studio, serving as the connective tissue between showrunners, writers, and internal SPT departments. As the Current Programming Intern, you'll work alongside five department assistants covering a full slate of scripted series, getting direct visibility into how studio executives guide the creative process on episodic television. A typical day involves rolling calls, taking notes on production meetings, and keeping department data current across active show files.

Key Responsibilities

  • Providing administrative backup coverage for department assistants to ensure no gaps across the studio's scripted television slate.
  • Rolling calls and taking detailed notes during meetings and phone calls with showrunners, writers, and internal executives.
  • Managing and updating show data within Xpanse, the studio's production database, to keep episode and series records accurate.
  • Maintaining department staffing grids in Airtable across multiple concurrent episodic television productions.
  • Handling scheduling for department executives and coordinating across SPT teams as production needs shift.
  • Observing executive workflow to build a working understanding of how a major television studio operates across development, current programming, and production.

What You Bring

  • Current enrollment in an accredited college or university through the full duration of the internship.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the discretion to handle sensitive production and personnel information.
  • Familiarity with Airtable, or the demonstrated ability to learn database and grid-based tools quickly.
  • Prior entertainment internship experience in a studio, production company, or network environment is preferred.
  • Close attention to detail and organizational discipline across multiple simultaneous projects.

Why This Role

Sony Pictures Television carries one of the largest scripted television slates among major studios, which means the Current Programming Intern role here offers exposure to a breadth of episodic production that most internships cannot match. The position runs January 4 or 11, 2027 through April 16, 2027, with flexible start and end dates, and requires 10 to 29 hours per week on-site in Culver City. The anticipated base pay is $19 per hour, and the role may qualify for comprehensive benefits.
