Job Description:

Collectors is the leading creator of innovative technology that provides value-added services for collectors worldwide. We’re always on the lookout for talented people to join our growing team.

Our services span collectible trading cards, autographs, comic books, coins, video games, event tickets, and memorabilia. Our subsidiaries include PSA, PCGS, Beckett, SGC, and Card Ladder.

As part of our interview process, we request that candidates have their cameras on during video interviews. This helps foster meaningful conversation and allows us to create an experience that closely resembles our standard working environment. Certain interview steps may take place by phone. For remote roles, and at our discretion, candidates may be asked to participate in an on-site interview as part of the final stages of the process.

We understand there may be occasional circumstances requiring accommodation and are happy to discuss them as needed. Your recruiter will be able to clarify expectations and answer any questions you have.

We’re looking for a Director, Business Insights & Analytics to own the data and insights function across PSA Marketplace, including PSA Exchange, Vault, and eBay Consignment businesses. You’ll transform transactional, marketing, operational, product, and behavioral data into decisions the Marketplace leadership team acts on.

This is a hands-on, part strategist, part executor role. Our ideal candidate is a player / coach that leads a lean team and acts as the connective tissue between the business, central data, product, and key cross functional partner teams.

You’ll report to the President, Marketplace. We believe that there is significant value in in-person collaboration. If you live within a 1 hour commuting distance to one of our offices, you will be required to be onsite most of the time. Remote or hybrid candidates will also be considered. This will be discussed further as part of the recruiting process.

  • Data infrastructure requirements: partner closely with Central Data team Engineering and Product teams to inform data models / data infrastructure requirements, ensuring business requirements are appropriately captured to build insights off of

  • Fraud coordination: partner with the Fraud team and GMs on shared data signals - anomalous transaction patterns, account behavior, and listing-level risk indicators - via data-sharing and pattern-flagging

  • Deliver recurring insights and ad hoc analysis to the GMs and support Board / Exec reporting - examples include: vault cohort analysis, inform bidding engine logic

Who You Are

  • 7-10+ years of experience working with data to drive analyses & business insights, ideally in Marketplaces, FinTech, or eCommerce industries

  • Player / Coach DNA: you are equally as comfortable writing SQL queries yourself as you are guiding, mentoring, and managing a lean team of analysts

  • Strong business acumen: you are strategic and curious. You ask questions to deeply understand the business and can carry forward analyses, test hypotheses, and present back structured recommendations that solve ambiguous problems

  • Strong communicator: you can communicate across all levels of the org, effectively translating between high level business leaders, to analysts, to engineers and technical counterparts

  • Technical expertise: experience working with large datasets using SQL, building data abstractions to support reporting and analysis, and creating shareable deliverables for stakeholders in BI tools like Tableau, Mode, or Lightdash; experience building data pipelines with dbt a plus

  • Collectibles or alternative-asset market familiarity is a plus, not required

Salary Range: The salary range for this position is $160,000 - 260,000. 5. HOW DO YOU PROCESS INFORMATION?

Several years ago, I was working in a team to plan a big event. My supervisor made us all work as a team before the big day. One of our activities has been to find out how each of us processes information...

6. HOW DO YOU MANAGE THE CALENDAR AND THE PROGRAM? WHICH APPLICATIONS / SYSTEM DO YOU USE?

7. HOW DO YOU ORGANIZE FILES, LINKS, AND TABS ON YOUR COMPUTER?

Just like your schedule, how you track files and other information is very important. After all, everything is digital!...

9. HOW DO YOU PREPARE FOR A MEETING AND PREPARE A MEETING? WHAT DO YOU SEE HAPPENING DURING THE MEETING?

Just as communication is essential when working remotely, so is organization. Because you won't have those opportunities in the elevator or a casual conversation in the lunchroom, you should take advantage of the little time you have in a video or phone conference...

10. HOW DO YOU USE TECHNOLOGY ON A DAILY BASIS, IN YOUR WORK AND FOR YOUR PLEASURE?

This is a great question because it shows your comfort level with technology, which is very important for a remote worker because you will be working with technology over time...
