Interactive Web Designer/Developer - Remote

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for an Interactive Web Designer/Developer based in Canada.

The Interactive Web Designer/Developer will take ownership of creating engaging, accessible, and visually compelling websites for private clubs and membership-based organizations across North America. From initial client discovery to final launch, you will combine creative design expertise with front-end development skills to deliver responsive digital experiences that reflect each client's brand and objectives. Using Figma, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, you will transform concepts into interactive prototypes, functional websites, and reusable components within a proprietary content management system. You will collaborate closely with clients, designers, developers, and implementation specialists in a remote-first environment that values creativity and teamwork. The role also offers opportunities to improve workflows through reusable design systems, modern development practices, and AI-assisted tools. This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented digital professional who enjoys client interaction, technical problem-solving, and continuous innovation.

Accountabilities:
  • Lead client design consultations: Facilitate discovery meetings, gather requirements, understand client objectives, and present design concepts and recommendations to stakeholders.
  • Create engaging website designs: Develop responsive desktop, tablet, and mobile mockups, interactive prototypes, and CMS modules using Figma.
  • Develop front-end experiences: Translate approved designs into functional websites using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript within a local development environment.
  • Integrate designs into the CMS: Convert completed front-end code into reusable templates, components, and tokens compatible with the proprietary content management system.
  • Champion user experience and accessibility: Provide expert recommendations on usability, visual hierarchy, typography, colour, responsive behaviour, and accessibility best practices.
  • Manage multiple projects: Coordinate several website projects simultaneously, monitor milestones, track progress through project management tools, and communicate status updates to internal stakeholders.
  • Collaborate across teams: Work closely with designers, front-end developers, implementation specialists, and client support teams to ensure smooth project execution and successful launches.
  • Maintain design quality: Ensure websites meet established design standards, function consistently across devices and browsers, and deliver polished user experiences.
  • Improve design and development workflows: Identify opportunities to streamline the journey from initial mockups to final launch through reusable patterns, efficient processes, and improved tooling.
  • Leverage AI-assisted tools: Explore and apply AI technologies to accelerate design, coding, and content workflows while maintaining quality and consistency.
  • Contribute to team development: Share knowledge, welcome constructive feedback, support colleagues, and contribute to a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
  • Requirements:

  • Professional experience: At least three years of professional experience in web design and front-end development.
  • Portfolio: A portfolio demonstrating websites you have both designed and developed, with examples of responsive layouts and polished user experiences.
  • Figma expertise: Advanced proficiency in Figma, including components, auto layout, variants, and interactive prototyping.
  • Front-end development: Strong skills in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, along with a solid understanding of browser rendering, responsive behaviour, and cross-browser compatibility.
  • Visual design capabilities: A strong eye for layout, colour, typography, spacing, and visual hierarchy, with the ability to translate brand requirements into cohesive digital experiences.
  • UX and accessibility knowledge: Practical understanding of user experience principles, usability standards, and accessibility requirements, particularly WCAG 2.1 AA.
  • Client communication: Confidence leading client meetings, presenting design decisions, gathering feedback, and explaining technical concepts in clear, accessible language.
  • Project and time management: Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines, and maintain attention to detail across multiple projects.
  • Written communication: Strong written communication skills, with the ability to produce concise updates, document requirements, and communicate effectively with clients and colleagues.
  • Teamwork and initiative: A proactive, collaborative approach, with the willingness to take ownership of challenges, support teammates, and contribute ideas without waiting to be prompted.
  • Adaptability and continuous improvement: Openness to feedback, a commitment to refining workflows, and an interest in discovering more efficient ways to deliver high-quality work.
  • AI and digital tools: Familiarity with AI-assisted design or coding tools, or a strong willingness to adopt them to improve productivity and creative output.
  • Additional assets include:

  • Experience with CMS templating or tokenization systems such as WordPress, HubSpot, or Shopify Liquid.
  • Familiarity with Git, Visual Studio Code, Node.js-based build tools, or other modern development environments.
  • Experience using Adobe Creative Cloud applications, particularly Photoshop and Illustrator.
  • Previous experience in a digital agency, web development consultancy, or client-services environment.
  • Knowledge of private clubs, hospitality, membership organizations, or related industries.
  • Benefits:

  • Competitive salary: Annual compensation ranging from CAD 75,000 to CAD 85,000, depending on experience.
  • Fully remote work: Work remotely from anywhere in Canada, provided you are legally eligible to work in the country.
  • Full-time employment: A regular, ongoing position with a standard schedule of 37.5 hours per week.
  • Predictable working hours: Core collaboration hours from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Eastern Time to support client meetings and teamwork.
  • Creative ownership: The opportunity to manage website projects from initial discovery through design, development, and launch.
  • Professional development: Opportunities to expand your expertise in modern web design, front-end development, CMS integration, and emerging AI tools.
  • Collaborative team environment: Work alongside designers, developers, implementation specialists, and client-facing professionals in a supportive, improvement-oriented culture.
  • Technical innovation: Opportunities to experiment with AI-assisted workflows, reusable components, and efficient development practices.
  • Meaningful client impact: Help private clubs and membership-based organizations improve their digital presence and deliver better online experiences.
  • Inclusive workplace: A commitment to equal employment opportunities and a diverse, accessible working environment.
  • Recruitment accommodations: Reasonable accommodations are available upon request at any stage of the hiring process.

2. HOW DO YOU USE THE DIFFERENT COMMUNICATION TOOLS IN DIFFERENT SITUATIONS?

When you're working on a remote team, there's no way to chat in the hallway between meetings or catch up on the latest project during an office carpool. Therefore, virtual communication will be absolutely essential to get your work done...

6. HOW DO YOU MANAGE THE CALENDAR AND THE PROGRAM? WHICH APPLICATIONS / SYSTEM DO YOU USE?

Or you may receive even more specific questions, such as: What's on your calendar? Do you plan blocks of time to do certain types of work? Do you have an open calendar that everyone can see?...

7. HOW DO YOU ORGANIZE FILES, LINKS, AND TABS ON YOUR COMPUTER?

Just like your schedule, how you track files and other information is very important. After all, everything is digital!...

9. HOW DO YOU PREPARE FOR A MEETING AND PREPARE A MEETING? WHAT DO YOU SEE HAPPENING DURING THE MEETING?

Just as communication is essential when working remotely, so is organization. Because you won't have those opportunities in the elevator or a casual conversation in the lunchroom, you should take advantage of the little time you have in a video or phone conference...

10. HOW DO YOU USE TECHNOLOGY ON A DAILY BASIS, IN YOUR WORK AND FOR YOUR PLEASURE?

This is a great question because it shows your comfort level with technology, which is very important for a remote worker because you will be working with technology over time...
