Mural & Creative Projects Business Development & Sales Representative (100% COMMISSION BASED)

Remote | 100% Commission | Flexible Schedule

About Hot Shot

Hot Shot is a Chicago-based mural, sign painting, and creative design studio specializing in large-scale hand-painted murals, custom signage, branded environments, and creative installations.

We work with businesses, brands, developers, organizations, and communities to create memorable physical spaces through bold, highly crafted artwork and design.

We’re looking for a self-directed, opportunity-driven sales professional to help us grow our pipeline of large-scale mural, sign painting, and public art projects.

The Role

This is a 100% commission-based, remote Business Development role focused on finding and securing new project opportunities for Hot Shot.

You’ll be responsible for identifying organizations that could benefit from our work, finding mural calls and public art opportunities, applying to relevant grants and calls for artists, and developing relationships with potential clients and project partners.

This role is ideal for someone who is comfortable working independently, enjoys researching and hunting for opportunities, and is motivated by the potential to earn directly from the business they generate.

You do not need to be an artist. We’re looking for someone who understands sales, outreach, research, relationship-building, and how to identify opportunities.

What You’ll Do

Find New Opportunities

  • Research and identify large-scale mural, sign painting, public art, and branded environment opportunities
  • Identify businesses, developers, restaurants, hotels, property owners, municipalities, organizations, and brands that may be a good fit for Hot Shot
  • Monitor mural calls, public art calls, RFPs, grants, community development initiatives, and other funding opportunities
  • Build and maintain a pipeline of potential projects
  • Research upcoming developments, renovations, openings, rebrands, and other situations where custom artwork or signage could be valuable

Pursue Opportunities

  • Submit Hot Shot for relevant mural calls, grants, artist opportunities, and RFPs
  • Coordinate application materials with the Hot Shot team
  • Reach out directly to prospective clients and decision-makers
  • Develop relationships with architects, developers, designers, property managers, businesses, agencies, community organizations, and other potential referral partners
  • Follow up consistently with leads and opportunities
  • Help move qualified leads from initial contact toward a proposal and signed project

Support Sales

  • Qualify incoming opportunities and determine whether they are a good fit for Hot Shot
  • Gather project information and communicate client needs to the creative team
  • Help prepare proposals, budgets, and pitch materials as needed
  • Maintain an organized CRM/pipeline of leads, applications, follow-ups, and project status
  • Track outreach and results so we can continuously improve our sales process

What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for someone who is:

  • Highly self-motivated and independent
  • Comfortable with 100% commission-based compensation
  • Strong at research and finding opportunities that other people might overlook
  • A confident and personable communicator
  • Comfortable with cold outreach and following up
  • Organized and able to manage multiple opportunities at once
  • Persistent without being pushy
  • Comfortable communicating professionally over email, phone, and video calls
  • Interested in art, design, architecture, branding, placemaking, construction, hospitality, or creative industries
  • Able to recognize a good business opportunity and think creatively about how to pursue it

Experience That Would Be Valuable

Experience in any of the following is a plus:

  • Sales or business development
  • Commission-based sales
  • Grant writing or grant research
  • Public art or arts administration
  • Construction or architectural sales
  • Commercial real estate
  • Architecture or interior design
  • Experiential marketing
  • Advertising or creative agency business development
  • Fundraising
  • Proposal/RFP development
  • Hospitality or restaurant industry sales

A background in the arts is not required. Strong sales instincts, initiative, and the ability to find opportunities are more important.

Compensation

100% commission-based. No hourly wage or salary.

You will earn a percentage of the revenue generated from projects that you originate and/or successfully secure for Hot Shot.

Commission structure will be discussed during the interview process and will be based on the type and size of project.

We are particularly interested in someone who wants to build a long-term, high-upside sales relationship rather than simply work a fixed number of hours.

The more business you generate, the more you earn- and murals pay $10,000-$100,000 a job.

Schedule & Location

  • Remote
  • Flexible schedule
  • Work independently and manage your own time
  • No required daily office hours
  • Occasional virtual meetings with the Hot Shot team
  • Some opportunities may require communication with clients during normal business hours

How to Apply

Please send us:

  • A short introduction about yourself
  • A brief explanation of why this role interests you and your work experience
  • Examples of opportunities, clients, partnerships, or projects you have successfully brought in, if applicable
  • Your resume or LinkedIn profile

Bonus: Tell us about a potential mural, signage, public art, or branded-environment opportunity you think would be a good fit for Hot Shot.
