Part-Time Remote Bookkeeper & QuickBooks Online (QBO) Specialist

ABOUT THE POSITION

I'm a CPA with a small, specialized practice serving individuals and businesses, including real estate investors. I'm looking for an experienced, tech-savvy bookkeeper to support existing client engagements on a part-time, fully remote basis.

This is a good fit for someone who enjoys working independently, solving bookkeeping problems, and using technology to make accounting processes more efficient. I value accuracy, initiative, sound judgment, and clear communication.

The initial workload will be limited, with the opportunity to grow as the practice expands and the working relationship develops. This could be a good fit for someone who has other clients or commitments and is looking for a small, flexible workload.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain client books in QuickBooks Online, including reconciliations, transaction review, and month-end bookkeeping.
  • Identify, investigate, and resolve discrepancies and unusual transactions.
  • Perform bookkeeping cleanup and help bring client records into good order.
  • Maintain accurate, organized financial records that are ready for tax preparation.
  • Identify missing information and prepare clear, concise questions for clients.
  • Use accounting software, integrations, spreadsheets, and other technology to improve efficiency.
  • Document workflows and recommend practical automation opportunities.
  • Communicate proactively about issues, deadlines, and matters requiring CPA review.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Strong hands-on experience with QuickBooks Online, including reconciliations and troubleshooting.
  • Solid understanding of bookkeeping fundamentals and financial statements.
  • Ability to work with imperfect records and independently investigate discrepancies.
  • Strong technology skills and an interest in automation and efficient workflows.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organization, and written communication.
  • Ability to work independently, manage deadlines, and recognize when an issue needs to be escalated.
  • Experience supporting small businesses or real estate-related clients is a plus.
QuickBooks Online certification is welcome, but practical experience and problem-solving ability are more important than certifications alone.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE

I'm looking for someone who can take ownership of assigned work, exercise sound judgment, and communicate clearly without needing constant direction. The right person will be comfortable suggesting better ways to do things and helping build efficient, repeatable processes.

Reliability, discretion, and a professional approach to confidential client information are essential.

HOW TO APPLY

Please reply with a brief introduction outlining:

  • Your bookkeeping experience and experience with QuickBooks Online
  • The types of clients you have supported
  • Your comfort with technology, integrations, and automation
  • Your availability
  • Your hourly rate
Please also describe a bookkeeping problem you've independently diagnosed and resolved, or a process you've improved using technology.

I'm looking for practical experience, initiative, and problem-solving ability, not just a list of software certifications.
