Senior Film Critic

Our client, a leading digital media conglomerate, is seeking a highly experienced and passionate Senior Film Critic to join our vibrant Arts & Entertainment division in **Tampa, Florida**. The ideal candidate will possess an unparalleled knowledge of cinema, from classic Hollywood to contemporary international productions, and the ability to articulate nuanced critical perspectives with clarity and engaging prose. This role involves a dynamic blend of in-person attendance at film screenings, press junkets, and industry events, alongside remote work responsibilities.

Responsibilities:
Write insightful and authoritative reviews of newly released films, analyzing direction, screenplay, acting, cinematography, and thematic elements. Develop and maintain a deep understanding of film history, genres, and significant directors and actors. Conduct interviews with filmmakers, actors, and other industry professionals. Contribute to panel discussions, podcasts, and video content related to film criticism. Engage with our online community, responding to comments and fostering thoughtful dialogue about cinema. Identify emerging trends and voices within the film industry. Occasional travel to film festivals and industry conferences may be required. Collaborate with the editorial team to pitch and develop feature articles and opinion pieces.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Film Studies, Journalism, English, or a related field. A Master's degree is a plus. Minimum of 5-7 years of professional experience in film criticism, with a proven track record of published work in reputable publications. Exceptional writing, editing, and communication skills, with a strong command of grammar and style. Extensive knowledge of film theory, history, and diverse cinematic traditions. Ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Proficiency in digital media platforms and social media engagement. A keen eye for detail and a commitment to journalistic integrity. Willingness to adapt to a hybrid work model, balancing remote duties with essential in-office and on-location responsibilities in **Tampa, Florida**.
