Senior HTML5 Game Developer

<h2 id="about-the-role">About the role</h2> <p>You will complete our Game Development crew of 14 lovely and skilled people and report to the Team Lead Frontend Games. Your passion for online casino games combined with your technical knowledge allows us to bring the best slots to the market.</p> <h2 id="responsibilities">Responsibilities</h2> <ul> <li><strong>Game Development & Implementation</strong> <ul> <li>Translate game design documents (GDD) into HTML5 game presentations. </li> <li>Break down GDD features into a Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) and create JIRA tickets. </li> <li>Ensure tasks are manageable within a maximum of one workweek and align with team estimates. </li> <li>Implement game features and functionality using TypeScript (latest standard). </li> <li>Follow best practices, ensuring well-typed and well-documented code. </li> <li>Use JavaScript (ECMAScript) only when necessary, documented with JSDoc.</li> </ul> </li> <li><strong>Version Control & Code Management</strong> <ul> <li>Work with Git (GitLab as the central repository). </li> <li>Commit code at least once per working day to feature branches. </li> <li>Follow semantic commit conventions, including (JIRA or similair) ticket ID. </li> <li>Submit merge requests (MR) when work is completed and defect-free. </li> <li>Address feedback from MR reviewers and escalate disputes to the Architect or Engineering Manager if needed. </li> <li>Ensure code adheres to Secure Development Principles.</li> </ul> </li> <li><strong>Visual & Audio Effects Implementation</strong> <ul> <li>Integrate static art, animations (Spine), image sequences, and particles. </li> <li>Use libraries like PIXI.js for optimal rendering performance. </li> <li>Collaborate with Tech Art to optimize assets for efficient implementation Code Quality & Optimization</li> </ul> </li> <li><strong>Code Quality & Optimization</strong> <ul> <li>Ensure clean, well-documented, and tested code. </li> <li>Use browser developer tools to track FPS, memory, CPU/GPU usage, and draw calls. </li> <li>Prioritize and fix bugs with utmost urgenc </li> <li>Maintain unit and integration test coverage, ensuring communicated line coverage is not reduced. </li> <li>Remove dead code and optimize project assets.</li> </ul> </li> <li><strong>Game Code Building & Delivery</strong> <ul> <li>Utilize Webpack for efficient bundling, minification, and optimizat </li> <li>Optimize images, text, and assets for a production-ready build. </li> <li>Understand and enhance GitLab CI for efficient deployment </li> <li>Ensure games are optimized for HTTP/HTTP2/HTTP3, WebSockets, and other network communications to enhance player experience.</li> </ul> </li> <li><strong>Collaboration & Development Process</strong> <ul> <li>Work closely with Game Producers, Art Directors, and QA to ensure smooth development. </li> <li>Conduct game demos for Product Owners. </li> <li>Address QA-reported defects with highest urgency. </li> <li>Follow structured development milestones:<br>* Alpha – Game functions as per specification (even if assets are incomplete<br>* Beta – Full asset implementation; game ready for QA testing</li> </ul> </li> </ul> <h2 id="requirements">Requirements</h2> <ul> <li>At least 3 years of Game Development experience and 5 years overall development</li> <li>Fluent in Typescript and Javascript (ES6) and HTML5/CSS3</li> <li>Highly experienced with PixiJS, Phaser, or equivalent</li> <li>Complete fluency in English, written and spoken</li> <li>Strong communication and teamwork skills</li> <li>Experienced with Git, JIRA (or equivalent Issue / Project tracking software), and GSuite</li> <li>Attention to detail, problem-solving, and multitasking skills</li> <li>Experience with Spine animations, including optimization</li> </ul> <h2 id="nice-to-have">Nice to have</h2> <ul> <li>Experience with WebGL or other graphics programming API.</li> <li>Casino slot player.</li> <li>Creativity.</li> <li>Background in statically typed languages.</li> </ul> <h2 id="good-to-know">Good to know</h2> <ul> <li>This full-time position is on an indefinite freelance basis for contractors within the Central European Timezone +/-2.</li> </ul> <h2 id="why-work-for-booming-games">Why Work for Booming Games</h2> <p>Founder led.
