Senior Product Manager, Ad Formats

We're transforming the grocery industry

At Instacart, we invite the world to share love through food because we believe everyone should have access to the food they love and more time to enjoy it together. We work to deliver an essential service that customers rely on to get their groceries and household goods, while also offering safe and flexible earnings opportunities to Instacart Personal Shoppers.

Instacart has become a lifeline for millions of people, and we’re building the team to help push our shopping cart forward. If you’re ready to do the best work of your life, come join our table.

Instacart is a Flex First team

Overview

Instacart Ads powers one of the industry's leading retail media networks, helping brands, CPGs, and retailer partners reach shoppers with relevant, effective advertising across the Instacart platform. As part of the Ad Product team, you'll own the Formats domain, where we place 0→1 bets that fuel double-digit growth for Ads and keep CPGs and new advertiser types engaged.

You'll sit at the intersection of CPGs, retailers, and customers, shaping new ad experiences across multiple user-facing surfaces. Your portfolio spans new advertiser, formats innovation, and in-store experiences. You'll partner closely with XFN stakeholders, our Online Grocery team, and external technology partners.  If you're energized by taking ambiguous ideas from zero to one, fluent in ad formats and user experience, and comfortable managing partners and vendors, this is the role for you.

About the Job

  • Serve as the primary product partner to sales teams focused on New Advertiser types, including payment providers, upper-funnel non-endemic advertisers, and ad tech providers, with the goal of scaling non-endemic into a significant revenue line.
  • Partner with sales teams focused on formats such as savings, in-store, and AI solutions.
  • Define the 0→1 strategy for each bet, then own execution while aligning cross-functional teams across Instacart.
  • As these bets mature, take on increasing strategic ownership: define and prioritize the next set of incremental bets across the Instacart Ads ecosystem.
  • Communicate tradeoffs, progress, and results clearly to senior stakeholders, including the GM of Ads.

  • 4+  years of experience in product management for ad formats, with a strong understanding of user-facing ad experiences.

  • Strong stakeholder management skills across sales, engineering, and cross-functional teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with performance advertising products.
  • Experience taking new products from 0→1 in ambiguous, fast-moving environments.
  • Background in ad tech, retail media, or a closely related domain.

5. HOW DO YOU PROCESS INFORMATION?

Several years ago, I was working in a team to plan a big event. My supervisor made us all work as a team before the big day. One of our activities has been to find out how each of us processes information...

7. HOW DO YOU ORGANIZE FILES, LINKS, AND TABS ON YOUR COMPUTER?

Just like your schedule, how you track files and other information is very important. After all, everything is digital!...

9. HOW DO YOU PREPARE FOR A MEETING AND PREPARE A MEETING? WHAT DO YOU SEE HAPPENING DURING THE MEETING?

Just as communication is essential when working remotely, so is organization. Because you won't have those opportunities in the elevator or a casual conversation in the lunchroom, you should take advantage of the little time you have in a video or phone conference...

10. HOW DO YOU USE TECHNOLOGY ON A DAILY BASIS, IN YOUR WORK AND FOR YOUR PLEASURE?

This is a great question because it shows your comfort level with technology, which is very important for a remote worker because you will be working with technology over time...
