Sr. Risk Manager, Relay Product and Tech

<strong>Description<br><br></strong>Relay Product Excellence's mission is to monitor Transaction Integrity for products supporting Identity Verification, Account Support, and Compliance across Carrier and Driver processes. As the leader of our Safety and Trust Investigations arm, you will have an opportunity to drive innovation at the intersection of risk management, regulatory compliance, and automation—supplementing product teams where automation is yet to be launched or cannot be developed.<br><br>In this role, you will serve as a subject matter expert and individual contributor responsible for leading complex, end-to-end Safety & Trust investigations, synthesizing findings into executive-ready summaries, and partnering with product, operations, and legal teams to drive meaningful risk mitigation. You will operate with significant autonomy in a highly ambiguous environment, helping shape the future of trust and safety in Amazon's middle-mile network.<br><br><strong>Why You'll Love This Role<br><br></strong>High visibility: Your investigation summaries will directly inform Director/VP level decisions<br><br>Real impact: Your work protects carriers, drivers, customers, and Amazon from fraud, safety violations, and financial harm.<br><br>Cutting-edge domain: You'll work at the intersection of logistics, fraud detection, identity verification, and operational compliance.<br><br>Collaborative culture: You'll partner across RPE, Relay Trust, Legal, Loss Prevention, and Operations teams globally.<br><br><strong>Key Areas Of Ownership<br><br></strong><ul><li> Complex Safety & Trust case investigations across carrier and driver lifecycle</li><li> Risk identification, triage, and escalation for high-severity incidents</li><li> Investigation summaries and leadership briefings for stakeholders across teams</li><li> Process improvement and SOP development for emerging fraud and safety patterns</li><li> Cross-functional collaboration with product teams to inform automation and detection improvements<br><br></li></ul>Key job responsibilities<br><br><ul><li> Lead complex Safety & Trust investigations end-to-end, including carrier identity fraud, driver safety violations, unauthorized subcontracting, cargo theft, account manipulation, and other modus operandi (MOs) impacting Amazon's middle-mile network</li><li> Develop detailed investigation summaries and briefings for Director-level leadership, clearly articulating risk findings, financial impact, root cause analysis, and recommended mitigation actions</li><li> Triage and prioritize incoming Safety & Trust cases based on risk severity (compliance, legal, financial, reputational), ensuring high-impact cases receive appropriate urgency and escalation</li><li> Identify patterns and emerging threat vectors across investigation data; synthesize findings into actionable intelligence to inform product roadmaps, enforcement policies, and operational SOPs</li><li> Partner with Relay Trust product and engineering teams to translate investigation insights into scalable detection and prevention solutions, reducing reliance on manual investigation over time</li><li> Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders including Legal, Loss Prevention (LP), Relay Operations Centre (ROC), Worldwide Operations Security (WWOS), and Finance to drive case resolution and enforcement actions</li><li> Develop and maintain investigation SOPs, playbooks, and documentation to ensure consistency, quality, and scalability of the investigation function</li><li> Monitor and audit carrier and driver accounts for compliance with Relay Program Policies; trigger enforcement actions (warnings, suspensions, terminations) based on investigation outcomes</li><li> Support false positive/false negative audits to continuously improve the accuracy of automated risk detection models (e.g., Load Risk Classifier, Carrier Trust Index)</li><li> Represent RPE in cross-functional forums, contributing investigation insights to weekly program reviews, Monthly Business Reviews (MBRs), and OP planning cycles</li><li> Operate with high integrity and discretion, handling sensitive and confidential investigation data in compliance with Amazon's data classification and privacy policies<br><br></li></ul><strong>Basic Qualifications<br><br></strong><ul><li> 5+ years of compliance, audit or risk management experience</li><li> Bachelor's degree or equivalent</li><li> Experience conducting complex, end-to-end investigations and producing written investigation summaries or reports for senior stakeholders</li><li> Experience working cross-functionally with legal, operations, product, or compliance teams to drive risk mitigation outcomes</li><li> Experience identifying patterns and root causes in complex, ambiguous problem spaces</li><li> Proficiency in SQL or similar data querying tools for investigation support and data analysis<br><br></li></ul><strong>Preferred Qualifications<br><br></strong><ul><li> Project Management Professional (PMP) or equivalent certification</li><li> Master's degree or equivalent</li><li> Experience with open-source intelligence (OSINT) platforms or investigative tools (e.g., Lexis-Nexis, Clear, or equivalent)</li><li> Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), Certified Protection Professional (CPP), or equivalent professional certification</li><li> Experience working with or supporting automated fraud detection or risk classification systems (e.g., ML models, risk scoring tools)<br><br></li></ul>Amazon is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of protected veteran status, disability, or other legally protected status.<br><br>Our inclusive culture empowers Amazonians to deliver the best results for our customers. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
