Female Registered Nurse (RN) - Private Duty | Day & Overnight 8-Hour Shifts | Chicago, IL
Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Female Registered Nurses (RNs) to provide private-duty nursing care for a client in Chicago, IL.
This is a high-acuity private-duty nursing case involving a client who sustained a traumatic brain injury resulting in quadriplegia (paralysis of the arms and legs) and is non-verbal.
The client has a tracheostomy and G-tube and requires skilled nursing care and total-care assistance.
Required Clinical Competencies
The RN must be comfortable and competent in:
- Tracheostomy care
- G-tube feeding
- Nebulizer treatments
- Monitoring and responding to changes in the client's condition
- Total-care assistance
- Providing safe and compassionate care to a client with significant physical limitations
- Following the established plan of care and physician orders
Important: The RN should therefore be comfortable providing total care, in addition to skilled nursing responsibilities.
Previous experience with tracheostomy, G-tube feeding, traumatic brain injury, quadriplegia, or other high-acuity home-care cases is strongly preferred.
Schedule
We are currently seeking coverage for:
Available Shifts:
- 10:00 PM - 6:00 AM
- 6:00 AM - 2:00 PM
- Monday-Sunday
- 8-hour shifts
- 16 hours of coverage required daily
Candidates may be considered for one or multiple shifts depending on availability.
Duties
- Provide skilled nursing care in accordance with the client's individualized care plan.
- Monitor the client's condition and promptly report changes in health status.
- Administer medications and treatments as ordered.
- Provide appropriate support with activities of daily living and personal care as required.
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation.
- Follow infection-control, safety, and emergency procedures.
- Communicate effectively with the care team, family, and supervising clinical staff.
- Provide compassionate, respectful, and patient-centered care.
Experience
- Valid RN license with current state certification; prior experience in private duty nursing highly preferred.
- Demonstrated expertise in complex patient care settings including ICU, emergency medicine, or trauma centers.
- Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or Cerner; familiarity with ICD-10/ICD-9 coding is advantageous.
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or in memory care environments is desirable.
- Strong background in critical care procedures including airway management, aseptic technique, and acute pain management.
- Strong clinical judgment and assessment skills.
- Excellent communication and documentation abilities.
- Reliable transportation and dependable attendance.
- Ability to work 8-hour day or overnight shifts.
