About UPS & Our Culture

UPS Airlines is one of the world's largest cargo carriers, and the time-critical packages it flies are delivered to businesses and homes by our Part-Time Air Drivers — a specialized group of drivers who handle only the most urgent, time-definite shipments in the UPS network. These unique UPS part-time driver jobs run in the early morning hours, delivering Next Day Air and 2nd Day Air packages before most businesses even open. If you are searching for a part-time driving job that pays a premium over standard delivery work, ends before noon, and gives you access to UPS's world-class benefits on a part-time schedule, the Air Driver role is the most specialized and financially rewarding part-time option in our entire driver lineup.

What Our Team Says (Employee Reviews)

"The Air Driver role is the best-kept secret in UPS's part-time lineup. I deliver exclusively Next Day Air packages before 10:30 AM, my shift is done by noon on most days, and the premium rate for air-committed deliveries is noticeably higher than standard package car work. I have the Teamsters benefits, a growing pension, and every afternoon of my life completely free. As part-time driving jobs go, nothing at UPS or anywhere else touches this schedule." - Current Part-Time Air Driver, Boston, MA.

Role Overview & Responsibilities

As a UPS Part-Time Air Driver, you collect time-committed Next Day Air and 2nd Day Air packages from your local UPS facility in the early morning and deliver them to business and residential recipients before hard deadline windows — typically 10:30 AM for commercial addresses and noon for residential — operating a company-provided delivery vehicle on a tight, precision-scheduled route.

  • Air Commit Delivery Execution: Deliver UPS Next Day Air and 2nd Day Air packages to business and residential addresses within UPS's guaranteed time-of-day commitment windows — 10:30 AM for commercial, noon or end-of-day for residential — with zero tolerance for missed commits that trigger customer refunds.
  • Vehicle Inspection & Load Verification: Perform a pre-departure vehicle inspection and verify your air package manifest against the physical load before departure, confirming every air commit is present and correctly staged for the most efficient possible delivery sequence.
  • DIAD Device Operation: Capture electronic signatures, scan package barcodes, and document delivery exceptions using the UPS DIAD handheld device at every stop, maintaining the real-time tracking accuracy that UPS Next Day Air customers expect from every single shipment.

Benefits & Perks

UPS Part-Time Air Drivers receive Teamsters union wages at a premium rate reflecting the time-critical nature of air delivery, full medical, dental, and vision benefits, pension accrual, paid personal time, and UPS Earn & Learn tuition assistance — all on a part-time schedule that ends before noon. A company vehicle is provided — zero personal car wear. This is the most financially efficient part-time driving job in the UPS network.
