Senior Analytics Manager

Senior Analytics Manager - Hybrid role based in Lexington, MA

About Mimecast

The work people build is worth protecting, and it's harder to protect than it used to be. AI agents now move at machine speed with human-level access, and a small slip-up can become a very public one. We disrupt cybercriminal activity before that happens. We think fast, go big, and always demand more of ourselves. We work hard, deliver, and repeat. We grow with real determination and put success well within reach. We push each other to be better and expect to be pushed back, in a community built on respect, where everyone is counted. Work Protected.

Overview

As Senior Analytics Manager, you'll lead our analytics team and turn complex data into insights that inform business decisions and drive growth. This is a business-focused role: you'll own the analytics roadmap, decide what the team works on and in what order, and make sure its analysis drives decisions across the organisation.

You'll combine business acumen and people leadership with the technical credibility to guide a team working with Tableau, Snowflake, GitHub, and dbt. You'll set standards for data models and dashboards, translate technical concepts into business language, and influence senior stakeholders.

What You'll Do

  • Define and own the analytics roadmap, aligning it to business strategy and prioritizing work by business impact while balancing stakeholder demand with team capacity.
  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of analysts, setting objectives, providing regular feedback, and planning for team growth and hiring.
  • Partner with business leaders and technical teams to translate business questions into analytical projects, and communicate findings through clear visualizations and executive-ready presentations.
  • Define and govern company-wide metrics, working with data engineering to maintain a trusted single source of truth and a consistent semantic layer.
  • Set standards for dbt modelling, SQL quality, testing, code review, and version control in GitHub, staying hands-on in design reviews and complex builds.
  • Drive self-service analytics through documentation and training that help business users explore data independently.
  • Embed AI assistants and agents into SQL and dbt development, code review, documentation, and data quality checks, and automate routine reporting and ad hoc requests.
  • Use AI to accelerate insight and storytelling, from summarizing trends and drafting executive narratives to enabling natural-language data exploration, while validating outputs for accuracy.
  • Evaluate and introduce AI-enabled analytics capabilities, set responsible-use guidelines for data privacy, governance, and quality, and help the team use AI effectively.

What You'll Bring

  • The ability to lead a business intelligence or analytics function, with demonstrated experience managing, mentoring, and developing analysts.
  • Strong business acumen and experience owning an analytics roadmap, independently prioritizing competing requests by business value and team capacity.
  • Experience in a SaaS or similar subscription-based technology company, with working knowledge of ARR, churn, and retention.
  • Expert SQL skills, including writing complex queries and optimizing them for performance and scalability.
  • Experience designing, building, and governing executive-level and operational dashboards in Tableau, Power BI, or a similar platform.
  • The ability to build, test, and maintain dbt models, supported by a strong understanding of data modelling, dimensional modelling, and data warehouse concepts.
  • Experience with Git-based version control and setting team development standards.
  • Clear communication and stakeholder management skills, including translating technical concepts for senior, non-technical audiences and influencing their decisions.
  • Strong prioritization, organization, and attention to detail, with a commitment to staying current with BI and analytics trends.
  • Practical experience using AI tools to improve analytics productivity, with sound judgement on validating outputs and using them responsibly.
  • A bachelor's degree in a quantitative field, such as Mathematics, Computer Science, or Economics.
  • Python skills for advanced analytics, automation, and statistical analysis would also be helpful.

The base salary range for this position is $144,000−$216,000 plus benefits. This range represents the minimum and maximum new hire compensation for this role. The position may also be eligible for incentive plans and additional benefits, in accordance with company policy and local regulations.
